Cat Poop Cookies For April Fools’ Day!

Anyone who’s been around for a while might suspect that April Fools’ day is somewhat of an anthem holiday over here on The Sunny Side. I delight in pranking those I love! This Cat Poop Cookie prank is not only gross, but it’s AMAZING and oddly one of the most delicious cookies you’ll ever eat.

The sweet girl in this photo is Emerson. One of my daughter’s best friends, Emerson is an avid baker and gets intoxicating levels of joy from taking people down on April Fools’ Day (a real soul-sister if you ask me). And who do pranksters love to prank most? Other pranksters, of course.

Emerson’s family and ours are nearly bound as one. We spend most Sunday evenings cooking dinner together—  sharing stories, wine, and laughs. I love each and every member of them with one exception: THE CAT!

Meet Cookie Dough. (His name even sounds evil.)

Cookie Dough
My one and only photo with Cookie Dough.

Cats are not nice people. They, hiss and purr, and SCRATCH PEOPLE’S EYES OUT! (I’ve heard this!) Cookie Dough and I don’t have the best relationship. When he comes near me he makes these dreadful sounds. It sounds like what I suspect it sounded like just before Jeffrey Dahmer went in for the kill.

They claim that’s the sound of a purr (eye roll)—I’m not taking chances.

Once when Emerson’s family was away on vacation, I was the unfortunate soul responsible to check in on Cookie Dough each day. Let him in, let him out. Remove any half-mutilated mouse or bird carcasses he may have dragged to the front door to display his unsavory death threats to me. As a good friend does, I followed through. I kept that cat alive.

I took videos of him licking himself and set it to inappropriate music.

I left loads of fake cat poop all through the house, including the new white sofas that had been delivered.

And I laughed and laughed and laughed.

Emerson loved this prank so much— her mother did not. Emerson’s school hosted a post-vacation Show & Tell for kids to highlight their vacations. Instead of showing off her braided hair, golden tan or tropical seashells that she smuggled into the country like a dirty thief…

SHE SHARED THE CAT POOP! I had never been so proud.

Last year April Fools’ Day fell on a Sunday. Our family gathered for dinner, sharing stories, wine, and laughs. Emerson made dessert. To my disgust, surprise, and delight, Emerson scooped me a heaping pile of cat poop from a little box with an evil, shall we say, sh&t-eating-grin on her face.

This Cat Poop Prank Recipe is boldly gross and impressively delicious. Litter your loved ones with laughs this April Fools’ Day. I promise they’ll love it!

I wonder what will happen this year?

    1. Sleep with one eye open! And I think I should get some locks on my door!

  2. That’s hilarious. I completely forgot about April Fools day!

    1. Now you have time to plan ahead! Ha!

  3. Too funny! I’m sorry we don’t have a cat anymore. Terrific post!

    1. Oh, I’m sorry about your cat!

  4. This is cruel for a chocolate cookie lover like me. 😂😂😂

    1. Hahaha! Take the good with the bad!

  5. This looked way to realistic! I would have hurled! I’ve seen this done before with tootsie rolls on top and served with a small pooper scooper. This is a real fun idea and what a talented baker. Can’t wait for this year. (I don’t care for cats either. I’ll take my dogs any day)

  6. Oh my, the picture actually fooled me! 😂 Will, definitely try it this April fools day. 😀

    1. Hahaha! That’s awesome!

  7. Best! Cookies! Ever!! I can’t tell you how much I laughed reading this. And then I immediately forwarded it to my 13-year-old niece and nephew, who both like baking, and who, I am sure, need to make this. They don’t have a cat, but they do have a dog. I think these would work just as well as dog poop.

    1. Yes!!!! And they can totally delivery in doggy poop bags. Leave it on someone’s doorstep if you know what I mean!

This is amazing! It looks like my brother will be getting cookies for his birthday this year.

    1. Haha! You can make it really authentic and put in doggy poop bags. Happy Birthday to him!

  10. Kids love to cook–and the grosser sounding the better. Our library had a recipe book in the kids’ section with some similar recipes. The kids were so excited to make kitty litter casserole (with rice and sausage) and dirty dishwater punch. They checked that book out several times, and I suffered through their creations lol.

    1. Ha! That sounds like a fun book!

  11. This might just be one of the best April Fool’s ever. A prank with chocolate cookies as a reward – perfect!

  12. This is wonderfully hilarious. The world needs more of this!!

    1. Right!? Ha!

  13. OMG hahahaha this is too good! i should make these and toss them all over the kitchen floor only for my bf to wake up and yell at the pugs for pooping everywhere for him to clean up 😉 lol!

    1. HA! You totally should!

  14. The cookies would surely be delicious and am bound to love it. But more than that what I loved was your story. Awesome reading & I love the way you write & the pics you have shown. And Emerson is such a cute little talented kid 😊

    1. Oh, thank you so much! That means a lot!

  15. “Cuisine: errrrrrr” LOL!!! This is the best recipe I’ve seen for April Fools!! My 7 year old is totally going to love this!! I can’t wait!!

    1. Let me know how it comes out! Errrrrrr, you know what I mean!

  16. Emerson is a genius. I love the idea. If only we had a cat to make it that much more realistic.

    1. Make the cookies bigger if you have a dog!

  17. Girl, I’m so doing this! My hubby and I are cracking up over this! I can’t wait to see people’s reaction when he puts in in his work break room.

  18. This is too funny! Love it!

  19. This looks like a lot of fun! One year we made a kitty litter cake to take into work, it was a big hit even with how real it looked.

  20. These are great!! I love this idea! 🤣

OMG. This is so funny I am laughing so hard EXCEPT about the cat part. We just sat down after dealing with something crazy about a CAT. My husband’s uncle was hospitalized because his cat bit him and infected his arm so bad. Well, the same cat scratch my husband and caused an ugly wound. 🙁 This cat poop cookies looks so delish though.

  22. Every cat lovers will definitely enjoy this. Hahaha I did! Though I don’t usually see the poops of my cats because they are so good at burrying them in our garden. But this is such a great April Fools’ idea.

  23. So gross and hysterical. I will be making these today before the kids get home from school.

  24. This is SO fantastic! I will have to do this to my boyfriend FO SHO!

  25. The pictures look so real and I was almost about to puke before seeing the ingredients. Someone better don’t try this joke with me, otherwise the person will clean a record breaking kind of mess

  26. Those pics look so real! The first one made me wonder if it was legit poop. Lol. Like, what did I just get myself into reading?! This was a ton of fun to read about, and I’m sooooo tempted to try it out next April 1st. Lol. I love that grin on Emerson’s face!

  27. Oh my gosh! These look so realistic. I have a boy that will think this is hilarious in a couple years! He is one and out of about 6 words that he can say, poop is one! Ew!

    1. That’s hysterical!
