Anyone who’s been around for a while might suspect that April Fools’ day is somewhat of an anthem holiday over here on The Sunny Side. I delight in pranking those I love! This Cat Poop Cookie prank is not only gross, but it’s AMAZING and oddly one of the most delicious cookies you’ll ever eat.
The sweet girl in this photo is Emerson. One of my daughter’s best friends, Emerson is an avid baker and gets intoxicating levels of joy from taking people down on April Fools’ Day (a real soul-sister if you ask me). And who do pranksters love to prank most? Other pranksters, of course.
Emerson’s family and ours are nearly bound as one. We spend most Sunday evenings cooking dinner together— sharing stories, wine, and laughs. I love each and every member of them with one exception: THE CAT!
Meet Cookie Dough. (His name even sounds evil.)
Cats are not nice people. They, hiss and purr, and SCRATCH PEOPLE’S EYES OUT! (I’ve heard this!) Cookie Dough and I don’t have the best relationship. When he comes near me he makes these dreadful sounds. It sounds like what I suspect it sounded like just before Jeffrey Dahmer went in for the kill.
They claim that’s the sound of a purr (eye roll)—I’m not taking chances.
Once when Emerson’s family was away on vacation, I was the unfortunate soul responsible to check in on Cookie Dough each day. Let him in, let him out. Remove any half-mutilated mouse or bird carcasses he may have dragged to the front door to display his unsavory death threats to me. As a good friend does, I followed through. I kept that cat alive.
I took videos of him licking himself and set it to inappropriate music.
I left loads of fake cat poop all through the house, including the new white sofas that had been delivered.
And I laughed and laughed and laughed.
Emerson loved this prank so much— her mother did not. Emerson’s school hosted a post-vacation Show & Tell for kids to highlight their vacations. Instead of showing off her braided hair, golden tan or tropical seashells that she smuggled into the country like a dirty thief…
SHE SHARED THE CAT POOP! I had never been so proud.
Last year April Fools’ Day fell on a Sunday. Our family gathered for dinner, sharing stories, wine, and laughs. Emerson made dessert. To my disgust, surprise, and delight, Emerson scooped me a heaping pile of cat poop from a little box with an evil, shall we say, sh&t-eating-grin on her face.
I had never been so happy to eat sh&t.
This Cat Poop Prank Recipe is boldly gross and impressively delicious. Litter your loved ones with laughs this April Fools’ Day. I promise they’ll love it!

Here’s The Scoop:
In a mixing bowl gather cake mix, butter, cream cheese and egg. Mix.
Roll dough into a ball.
Remove small pieces and roll those into individual poops. (You read that right!)
Shape poops into different lengths, widths, and shapes.
Place completed poops on a parchment paper covered baking tray.
Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. (The poops, not you.)
Preheat over to 350.
Bakes Poops for 7-9 minutes.
Allow poops to cool.
Fill (a clean!) litter box or baking dish with graham cracker crumbs. Organized poops to your liking. (Yup!)
Eat, Laugh, Love. Happy April Fools’!
